In 1983, a book by Constance Cumbey appeared on bookstore shelves. In this book, Cumbey contended that the New Age
Movement was the end-time apostasy (defection) described by the apostle Paul in his letter to the Christians of Thessalonica
(Thessalonians 2:3).
She sounded an alarm to the Church concerning the invasiveness and pervasiveness of the New Age philosophy and
thinking that had already infiltrated the Body of Christ… even 20 years ago!
Cumbey’s book, The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow: The New Age Movement and Our Coming Age of Barbarism,
clearly parallels New Age teaching with the teaching of the Nazis in Hitler’s Germany.
An attorney, Cumbey builds an airtight case against the New Age Movement documenting and paralleling all the planks
of Nazism (including the hideous philosophy of an Aryan race along with a necessary “cleansing action” upon those
with a blood taint [i.e. the Jews]) with the teachings of Alice Bailey—whose teachings and instructions serious New
Agers follow like a Bible.
I agree with Cumbey in that she correctly identifies the great apostasy (described in 2 Thessalonians 2:3) with the New Age
Movement. I further contend that, today, within the Body of Christ, not only has New Age philosophy been distilled and perfected
to an alarming degree within all denominations—even fundamentalist churches, but seed planted decades ago has flourished
and produced an alarming and audacious fruit in the Apostle-Prophet Five-Fold Ministry Restoration Movement, which is nothing
more than a Christianized hybrid of shamanism and New Age teaching.
The apostasy has escalated to an alarming degree, with formerly evangelical Christians defecting by the boatload.
In subsequent articles, New Age and Shamanistic teachings will be compared with those of the Apostle-Prophet
five-fold ministry restoration movement and clear parallels will be shown.
These teachings been cleverly foisted upon an unsuspecting Church, but they have also been eagerly embraced by
an adulterous people who first dabble in things forbidden by the scriptures, and then refuse to try the spirits according
to 1 John 4:1-3.
As the prophet, so truly, said, “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means,
and my people love to have it so…”
