The following is an edited excerpt of a recent
correspondance Butch had with a brother in Christ
My Brother,
I really enjoyed your last e-mail... I'm sure I will not
address every issue you touched on ...
As my " Slave to Christ" statement caught your attention, your
calling us your "brother and sister" in Christ, caught my attention.
Are you sure you really want to be our "brother?"
In Matt.20:22, Jesus plainly told James & John, "
hey you claim me as a friend, you claim me as your brother, then get ready for a bad day !!! " ( I'm paraphrasing of course
)
But are you sure you're ready to drink from the same cup
Jocelyn and I drink from?
Let me share a few things with you that I don't share
with every one. Jocelyn and I live a lifestyle that not every one would want to live.
We do not watch television ( cable, rented movies, sports, etc.
) as a matter of fact, we do not even own one.
We do not read secular books or magazines. We do not listen
to secular, or for that matter, very much Christian radio ( since it has become too liberal and ecumenical to suit us ).
With regular days of prayer and fasting, we are striving
for a life of Holiness. We are striving to get closer to Jesus.
At this time , we have very few Christian friends
to fellowship with on a regular basis (we are not referring to corporate worship--we are in church several times a week).
You see, when you've renounced the world and what
it offers, and most everyone else is still enamoured with it, not many are anxious to hang out with you.
Our lifestyle and convictions automatically seem
to make uncomfortable those who don't want to be convicted of the hindering strongholds in their
lives, and most would rather turn their backs on us and go their own way--happy
with the status quo.
No one would ask to be as rejected and lonely as
we feel at times.
But...
consider Jesus....
I'm writting this from my heart so you will know a
little more about the people you call Brother and Sister ....
