The five pointed star has been used by witches for centuris and called the pentacle or pentagram.

five pointed stars with one point up symbolize witchcraft.

Stars with two points up (as in the Eastern Star) are called the sign of the goat or Satan and are used by Satanists.

The 6 pointed star (hexagram) was not associated with Judaism until the middle ages. It originated in antiquity, when side by side with the pentagram (5 pointed star), it served as a magical sign.

The Cabala, the occultist's magic book, popularized the use of the so-called "Star of David" as a protection against evil spirits.
